Data collected
- Your email address and password (encrypted), for your account.
- Your player profile: username, player ID, bio, photo or emoji, games, ranks, platforms, play style, availability, languages, mic.
- Your date of birth: never shown, it’s used to show you only players in your age group (13–17 or 18 and over) and to check team minimum ages. Once saved, it can only be changed by the team, on request.
- Your swipes, matches, messages, reactions, images sent, teams and invites.
- Your game accounts, if you add them (Riot ID, Epic, PSN, Xbox, Steam…), and your verified League of Legends rank, if you request verification.
- The “Good mate?” reviews you give and receive, your posts looking for players and your replies to posts.
- The player who invited you, if you enter their player ID (referral).
- Your online presence and your “Playing now” status, while the app is open.
- Your reports and any moderation decisions.
- A notification identifier for your phone and the app language, if you accept notifications.
Why
This data is only used to make BoostMate work: suggesting players, enabling chats and teams, sending you notifications, and keeping the community safe (moderation). It is never sold or used for advertising.
Who can see it
Your player profile is visible to other players in your age group. Your game accounts are visible only to your mates and your team members. Reviews are anonymous: a player only sees the percentage of positive reviews, from 3 reviews. Your posts are visible to players in your age group. Your private chats are visible to their participants; team messages and a team’s Discord link to its members. To keep the community safe, the BoostMate moderation team may view private chats, team messages and images sent, only for moderation purposes (fighting harassment, scams, cheating or prohibited content). Every access is recorded in a log. Messages are also checked automatically when sent: a message containing hate speech or a dangerous link is refused, and a message containing an insult or an unknown link is passed to the moderation team. This check uses a list of words and websites, with no artificial intelligence and no advertising.
Hosting and service providers
We only share your data with the technical providers needed to run the service:
- Supabase: database hosting, photo storage and authentication.
- Expo: sending push notifications (notification identifier and notification content).
- Apple and Google: delivering notifications to your phone.
- Riot Games: only if you request verification of your League of Legends rank, your Riot ID is sent to Riot to read your summoner icon and ranked tier.
- Vercel: hosting of the boostmate.fr website and cookie-free visit statistics (Vercel Web Analytics).
Retention period
Your data is kept as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (Settings › My account), your profile, messages, swipes and photos are deleted.
Your rights
You can view and edit your profile at any time in the app, download your data (Settings › Privacy › Download my data) and delete your account from Settings › My account. For any other request (access, rectification, objection, portability), write to us at contact@boostmate.fr. You can also contact the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Minimum age
BoostMate is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 15, a parent’s consent is required to create an account. Players aged 13–17 and players aged 18 and over don’t see each other in Discover, can’t match with each other and can’t find each other through username search.
This website
The boostmate.fr website sets no advertising cookies and uses Vercel Web Analytics, without cookies, to measure visits. Statistics are aggregated: pages viewed, referring site, country, device type and browser. They are not linked to your BoostMate account and are not used to track you across websites. Vercel tells visitors apart with an identifier computed from the request, deleted after 24 hours. Like any host, Vercel may also keep technical logs (including the IP address) for a short time, for security and to keep the website running.
